Al
1987 Chevy Astro 2WD
10" lift, 33x12.50 tires, V8, more
Northern East Coast

Al is kind of a private guy, in fact, he didn't want to tell us his last name or what state he was from. But if you ever meet up with him he will be more than happy to tell you about all the work he put into this beast.

Al custom welded in a 8" bodylift on the forward subframe. He then lifted the suspension another 2" with the coil springs from a C20 pickup. The back end has welded on home made axle blocks. 33" inch tires look good and provide more lift and ground clearance.

The motor is a 1988 350 TBI 4-bolt block, 1980s 194 heads, Torker II intake, 296 degree by .472" lift cam, flat top pistons, and early Ram horn manifolds. A custom adapter makes the throttle body work with the help of  an ADS Super Chip

He built a TH350 tranny from a 1970s 2wd pickup because it had about the same length. To make it streetable and powerful he used a 2500 stall speed converter. A little too much power trashed the stock rear end so he installed the rear axle from a G-10 full size van.

If you ever line up with Al at a stop light watch out. He said he built her to be a showboat but she ended up being more like a jet ski. Nice work Al.
